Project Gallery > Opus 2
Opus 2 Opus 2 is an original design, based on classical principles. I received a nice commission from the First United Methodist Church of Eugene, Oregon in mid-2004 and began design late that year.
The organ contains four stops: 8' Gedackt (oak), 4' Flute (oak), 2 2/3' Nasard (mc) and 2' Principal. The Nasard is made of cherry and the Principal is made of purpleheart, a hard, dense wood which provides the necessary brilliance without being too bright for the other stops. The blend of sounds is marvelous and the purple pipes in the front of the case are a visual delight. See page 3 of pictures in this section to have a look at the purple pipes more closely. The case measures 39" wide, 22" deep and 36" tall.
The organ has four doors (1 each end, 2 in front) which can be opened and closed as required for volume purposes. Each door contains a through-carving in the classical acanthus style to permit a nice level of sound to exit the case even when the doors are closed.
The organ is in two components: (1) the case containing the windchest, pipes and keyboard and (2) the blower box, upon which the case sits.
